Roughage handling two major coup
Roughage refers to the feed where the natural moisture content is less than 60%, and the dry matter has a crude fiber content of not less than 18% and is fed as a dried product. Green fodder, silage, hay, crop stalks, and vinasses all belong to roughage. The nutritional value of these feeds is low, and the digestive energy content is generally not more than 10.5MJ/kgDM, and the digestibility of organic matter is not higher than 65%.
On the whole, crude food has poor palatability, it is difficult to digest, and there are few nutrients that can be absorbed and utilized. However, roughage also has some advantages that other feeds do not have: wide sources, many types, large volumes, and low prices. It is because of this that roughage has a certain use in the breeding process, but before feeding, we have to do some simple processing of roughage.

The wheat straw is spread on the threshing floor and is 30-40 cm thick. On top of it is a fresh green alfalfa 30-40 cm thick. The alfalfa is covered with a layer of wheat straw of the same thickness and then ground with a stone roller. After the alfalfa flattened the outflow juice absorbed by the wheat straw, the palatability and nutritional value of the wheat straw can be increased.
Second, cooking
Cooking can improve the palatability of the straw and soften the cellulose. It is commonly used to feed breeders, fattened cows and low-yielding cows. Combine the chopped straw with the carrot, place it in an iron pan (the lower vent tube of the pot, there is a hole in the trachea), cover the sack, steam from the trachea into the steam for 20-30 seconds, remove it after 5-6 hours. Feed cattle.
