In recent years, Shenzhen's medical device industry ranks in the forefront of the country, with an annual output value of more than 26 billion yuan, more than 600 production, and more than 40 production enterprises with an annual output value of over 100 million yuan. Moreover, Shenzhen's medical device industry has a high level of internationalization, and its products are exported to nearly 200 countries and regions around the world. The export of products ranks among the top in the country, accounting for 35%-70% of the national total. Moreover, Shenzhen medical equipment industry has emerged as excellent enterprises such as Mindray, Libang, Xianjian, Open and Steady, among which nearly 40 enterprises have entered the “100 million clubs†with an annual output value exceeding 100 million yuan.
Innovation is the source of industrial development, and R&D has also raised the level of the entire medical device industry in Shenzhen. Statistics show that more than 70% of the products in the medical device industry in Shenzhen have independent intellectual property rights. The core technologies of many mainstream products have reached or are close to the international advanced level, and some indicators are even higher than the international advanced level. At present, the total number of R&D personnel in the entire medical device industry in Shenzhen exceeds 10,000, and the R&D investment of enterprises exceeds 8% of sales, and the total number of patents exceeds 3,000. More than 1,000 projects are under development, and more than two-thirds of the products have completed production prototype development and entered the market entry declaration. More than half of the products will be put on the market, and interviews with these new products will become a new growth point for the medical device industry in Shenzhen.
Some companies have increased their investment due to the sweetness brought by R&D. For example, Shenzhen Jianjian Technology's R&D investment accounts for as much as 25%. And Mindray, a leading domestic medical equipment company, is ahead of independent research and development. The company insists on investing about 10% of its annual turnover to support product innovation and research. Since 1992, Mindray has been in life information and support, clinical testing. More than 80 new products have been launched in four major fields, including digital ultrasound and radiography. They have all independent intellectual property rights and more than 1,400 patent technologies, filling the gaps in domestic research and development, and creating many “firsts†in China.
Wang Bin, secretary general of the Shenzhen Medical Device Industry Association, said that although Shenzhen medical device companies currently have more than 3,000 patents, there are still many patents at home and abroad that have not entered the patent pool. After more than one month of preparation, on the afternoon of April 18th, the “Shenzhen Medical Device Industry Patent Alliance†jointly sponsored by Shenzhen Patent Association and Shenzhen Medical Device Industry Association was formally established. Mindray, Libang, Kaili, Xinlitai and other leading enterprises in the medical equipment industry in Shenzhen became the founding units. Among them, Mindray was elected as the chairman of the first council, and Libang Precision and Kaili Technology were elected as the vice chairman unit. .
According to reports, the alliance will establish a patent pool for all alliance members in accordance with the principle of “resource sharing, mutual benefit, and characteristic developmentâ€, jointly respond to patent challenges, and realize a reasonable and effective use of patent resources to build a platform for communication and cooperation. "The alliance will provide assistance to enterprises in terms of patents and intellectual property rights, promote the declaration and project establishment of corporate patents, improve the protection of intellectual property rights of medical equipment enterprises in Shenzhen, and build a comprehensive patent service system for medical equipment industry in Shenzhen."
