Russian medical community uses new immune theory to develop cancer vaccine
Experts from the Institute of Organic Chemistry of the Russian Academy of Sciences are currently developing a new type of cancer vaccine that "activates" the body's immune system to produce a strong immune response to cancer cells. According to the latest issue of the Russian Academy of Sciences report, the Russian medical community believes that the human immune system is very "tolerant" to cancer cells. The immune system "ignoring" the carcinogenesis of cells does not produce an effective anti-cancer immune response to stimulate immune cells to recognize and clear cancer cells. Therefore, finding a substance that can stimulate a strong immune response is critical. Experts have found that ganglioside GM3 has such a function. The vaccine developed by Russian experts is based on ganglioside GM3. Gangliosides are a component of human and mammalian cell membranes with various effects, with ganglioside GM3 producing large amounts of melanoma, gastric cancer cells, and other tumor cells. Studies have found that ganglioside GM3 alone does not effectively stimulate a strong immune response. In order to further improve the effectiveness of the vaccine, the researchers also added hemocyanin extracted from the blood of mollusks to synthesize a novel antigen with a special molecular structure. Tests have shown that the immune system can be "activated" by vaccines containing novel artificial antigens to produce antibodies. Once the antibody encounters a malignant tumor antigen and specifically binds, macrophages and lymphocytes in the antibody can be activated to destroy the cancer cells. ——Midi Medical Network
