Inner Mongolia cattle and sheep breeding technology reaches domestic leading level
The reporter learned from the Ministry of Science and Technology of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region that, through continuous integration and innovation, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region cattle and sheep embryo transfer, livestock in vitro fertilization, dairy cattle sperm separation and gender control technology have reached the leading domestic level.
In Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the number of bovine and sheep embryos every year is 30,000 to 40,000, which accounts for about 70% of the country's total. About 1200 embryos are submitted to the annual gender identification, accounting for 80% of the country's total. The survival rate of frozen and fresh embryos is the national leader. At present, there are 10 units in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region engaged in this work, accounting for 2/3 of the country.
The Laboratory of Mammalian Reproductive Biology and Biotechnology of Inner Mongolia University is a state key laboratory and has undertaken more than 40 national, provincial, and international cooperation projects. The first “test-tube sheep†and “test-tube cattle†were born here. A complete set of technical routes including in vitro maturation of bovine and ovine oocytes, in vitro fertilization, in vitro development, cryopreservation, and embryo transfer in vitro have also been proposed. The Chinese Academy of Engineering acclaimed as the "father of the test-tube lamb" is the academic leader of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The scientific research results "test-tube sheep" and "test-tube cattle" have reached the world's advanced level.
