Severely crackdown on the illegal addition and abuse of additives in all regions

The reporter learned from the Office of the State Council’s Food Safety Commission today that since April this year, according to the unified deployment of the State Council, all regions and relevant departments have conducted in-depth special efforts to crack down on the illegal addition and abuse of food additives, and achieved initial results.

As of July 31, various levels of agriculture, industry and commerce, quality inspection, food and drug supervision and other departments continued to strengthen law enforcement inspections, and cumulatively deployed more than 3.54 million law enforcement officers to inspect food and food additive production and business units, catering service units, etc. More than 5.92 million households (times), banned and closed more than 4,900 serious illegal production and business units. The public security authorities dismantled a batch of illegal black food production, storage and processing “black dens”, cracked more than 1,200 criminal cases of illegal food, and arrested more than 2,000 criminal suspects. The judiciary conducted public trial judgments on some key cases.

According to the deployment, all regions and relevant departments will continue to carry out rigorous crackdowns on the illegal addition and abuse of food additives to foods, and resolutely punish law-breaking criminals to ensure the safety of the people's diet.
